REE present at ACIGS workshop on Geosynthetics in Mining Engineering

Red Earth Engineering were proud to sponsor the Australian Chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society (ACIGS) half day workshop in Brisbane Friday 22 February, 2019. During the event, REE Senior Engineer Drew Crossley presented a case study on a TSF closure project that we successfully completed.

The workshop focused on the application of geosynthetics in mine operations and closures.

The topics included:
1. Geosynthetics in heap leaching and tailings dams, including analysis of the Samarco dam failure – Professor Tim Stark (University of Illinois)
2. Geosynthetics in tunnel applications – Professor Chungsik Yoo (University of Sunglyunkwan Korea and IGS President)
3. Geosynthetics in mine closures – Professor Jorge Zornberg (University of Texas at Austin)

There was an excellent turnout, which included a mix of consultants, manufacturers, contractors and clients. REE would like to send out a big thank you to the organisers and presenters who made this an excellent and informative workshop.
