Wade Ludlow (REE Director) recently presented a technical webinar to the Rio Tinto Global Tailings Community (over 300 tailings professionals world wide). Wade’s presentation was a summary and discussion of key tailings storage facility (TSF) design and management updates from the 2017 Tailings and Mine Conference in Banff, Canada.
The topics discussed included recent TSF governance and guideline updates, a summary of recent TSF failures, recent updates to risk assessment methods for TSFs, a a brief overview of TSFs in China and a summary of closure projects for tailings dams.
The presentation was well received and part of REE’s commitment to continued improvement in all aspects of tailings dam design and management.
